WALL-E

 Movie   Review

I just saw this work of visual genius from Pixar and I loved it.

There isn't a lot of dialogue, but if you have been on the journey with Pixar from the very beginning then you'll know that this is just how they like it.

The movie is a weird mish mash of styles that somehow seems to hang together perfectly.

There is even some live action mixed in with the animation, but it is only later that you will probably think, “Hey that dude was real, he wasn't animated!”

There are two distinct styles of robot in the movie. WALL-E is an old rusty cheap industrial looking robot, made of thick metal and the futuristic robot he meets is an iPod like milky plastic high tech creation that seems to be held together by gravity.

There are moments when the way she is animated are just jaw dropping. Veins of power seem to run under her surface and she leaves little blue sonic boom like circles as she flies.

It is the love story that develops between these two combined with the slowly revealed story of how the Earth came to be empty that keeps the audience enthralled during the running time of the movie, but it is the visuals that are really jaw dropping and the reason anyone, no matter how hard-hearted and immune to cheesy love stories they are, will be sucked in by this movie. It is just gorgeous to look at.
