Making money online with t-shirts

I have been pouring my creative soul into various internet money making ideas for some time now. I am the webmaster of this whole website and on a good run if I am putting time and effort into it, it can make 20 cents a day.

The most it made in a day was 15 dollars and this does give me hope for the future but not so much that I am not tempted to have a go at whatever else I happen to stumble across as I am surfing the web looking for money making ideas.

I have tried blogging and the Amazon affiliate programme but nothing has made me consider using it to replace the websitte as my central source of income. That means that I haven't found anything even as good as the meagre pickings I have found there.

The latest thing to have caught my attention is t-shirt designing, here is a blog post I did about making money with t-shirts. There are a couple of websites I have uploaded designs to and I have even sold a couple of t-shirts.

I have sold just two so far and they were probably just a fluke. The sites I have tried so far are Zazzle, DeviantART and Redbubble. They all have their advantages and disadvantages and I can recommend at least having a look at each one to see if it offers anything for you and your ambitions to use your creativity to make money on the internet.

Zazzle has by far the best widget. It is a carousel thing that can be made any size and even fits in the small side columns found alongside blog posts. All traffic has to be driven there by you however and it has not generated a single sale for me.

Though it must be said that I only uploaded three designs, (perhaps with more input there would be more output).

DeviantART on the othe hand is absolutely stuffed with people, so no need to drive customers to the site yourself. Unfortunately most seem to be creatives who are trying to sell rather than customers who are looking to buy. But it is a vibrant community with mostly friendly forums and well worth a visit to leave your signature behind and generate traffic for your site. It has not generated any sales for me though.

RedBubble is the site where I actually sold two t-shirts. It doesn't have good widgets (although the team behind Redbubble seems to be working on that) and the community doesn't seem to be as active as Deviant, but it is here that I have actually sold designs. It's a real tip and I hope it is as good for you as it has been for me.

I don't just do t-shirts and you can see more of my art on my role-playing game illustrations page on this site.
