Opinion
Where do our opinions come from.
Our opinions of Obamab and his politics were formed by a lot of things including the Presidential Debates.
But primarily our opinions are formed by writers. He is a writer himself and the political books Obama has written are a primary source of information.
But there is a lot more to read about than that. There is the instant reaction of blogs and the slightly more considered opinion in articles and news reports about him. There is the change.gov political site.
Lots of opinions were out there in the run up to the election and the question was, which would stick? Was he inexperienced, was he really funded by small donors? Has he created something new in politics with his use of the internet?
Who is telling us about Obama and why are they telling us these things? In his own books Obama is disarmingly honest for a politician.
The Guardian is an invaluable source of left leaning but basically unbiased information. The message during the election was change, but it was also nonpatisan honesty with facts. I have a hard time remembering the last time I heard a politician actually answering questions before.
He has been critisized for waffling but this is due to him actually giving answers with the information you need to understand them. For example when answering a question on Iraq with an overview of the situation and a possible solution, instead of the usual appeal to patriotism.
It is harder to do but it seems that the people of america were impressed and their opinions were formed accordingly.
