I Have Done
We use this form of words to talk about a past action that is connected to now.
If we do not use the …ing form we are talking about a point in time.
I have done my homework this week. (The homework is finished, at least for this week, and this week is not over, it is connected to now.)
I have swum today. (The swimming is in the past and today is not over connecting the swimming to now.)
I have cut my finger. (The cut happened in the past and was quick, a point in time. I have the cut now, a clear connection to now.)
