free-ebooks.net promises a lot, and for a book nut like me it generates high hopes but turns out be full of nutty books sent in to the site in PDF format by the general public. Lots of stuff about using your mind powers to make books run towards you.

Jeffrey A Carver's website has free science fiction all written by him and the one I read Neptune Crossing is not bad. It's a good site but it's all by the same author.

The next result on my search for free ebooks was worthy old Gutenburg but I want new spaceship stories from the cutting edge, not these old classics.

next came e-book.com.au but this is just a bunch of links to Australian Gutenburg like sites.

READ Robots, sci-fi movies, space opera, and spaceships. We love science fiction so much at Spiralcat that we gave it its own section, with reviews, role-playing game stuff and illustrations. One of the most interesting sections of any website is the area where the webmasters let us know what they really have to say,  and what they really think, in editorials and articles and. We at Spiralcat really enjoy putting this material together and we hope you like it.

Many other sites were a repetition of these sad results. It took a lot of searching to find baen.com/library/ where you get actual modernish SF books.

I downloaded and read Planets of Adventure on my Samsung Windows Mobile Smartphone in the free Mobipocket format. I was quite happy with Baen but the selection is a bit action orientated and the authors are not of the highest quality.

Freesfonline is the best scifi ebooks site I have found so far. The people behind this site have coralled together some of the best short fiction around on the net.

I usually have to copy the stories off a web page, paste the text into a pdf and import them to Mobipocket but they are the best quality free SF stories I have found so far and it's quite a simple process.

I plan to review the free ebooks I have found in the very near future, including Planets of Adventure and a cool story called Watch Crab.
