Sunset Beach
This is a picture from the photography of Barbara stanzl. It is a beautiful beach scene taken into the setting sun.
The lens flare effect is subtle and gentle and gives the picture the unmistakable ambience of late summer.
The indistinct shapes of the umbrellas in the photograph are reminiscent of fans waiting outside a theatre or cinema in patient long lines to see the show. Their red shapes give the photograph a feeling of
reportage, like a crowd shot taken in some far awy and exotic place of people congregating for some event we have never heard of and can not imagine.
This "crowd" lends the sunset in the background of the photograph an air of ceremonial event. A spectacle that draws a huge crowd of reverent observers. The colour pallet in the photograph is limited to deep comfortable reds in the foreground on the beach and cool lilac and yellow in the sky. The photograph is a beautiful evocation of that moment when you realise you have spent all day on the beach and it is time to seek out a nice place to spend the evening.
